Personal Tour Guide, Private Vehicle and Driver
I have had the privilege of running a B & B for four years now, and on many occasions I have had the pleasure of taking family, friends and guests on tours around our border towns; majestic stately homes and spectacular countryside.
We have strolled along the coastal pathways of Coldingham Bay and St. Abbs Head; we have gazed admiringly at the statue of William Wallace and emersed ourselves in the history of Sir Walter Scott at Abbotsford House and toured our ancient abbeys. In the springtime we have wandered through our blooming country gardens such as those at Floors Castle and Paxton House and many other gardens which are not normally open to the general public. How privileged we are! On the way we have stopped for cream teas or dined out on freshly grown and prepared fine border foods in lovely cafes and restaurants. What a lovely time!
And now I wish to share the inspiration and pleasure we have received with you: be it meandering in the market towns; pottering through the craft shops; or having a picnic at Scott’s View. Whatever your pace; whatever your place, it will give me great joy and pleasure to guide you through our beautiful Scottish Border lands.
I take small groups of guests over a period of one to four days. Tours can be tailored to suit your interests; from taking in the historic sights or simply driving along our quiet country roads to take in the marvellous vistas. I can arrange a tour for you that will linger in your memory. Touring is usually between 9am and 5pm; however individual times can be negotiated, particularly for those long summer days.
An example of a day tour might be leaving Kelso at 9am and driving to Jedburgh to visit Mary Queen of Scots House, Jedburgh Castle and Jail and the 11th Century Abbey; followed by brunch in the town. Then drive to Melrose; visit Melrose Abbey and visit Harmony Gardens; lunch at Russell’s Bistro and then drive to Sir Water Scott’s Abbotsford House and on the return drive stop off at Scott’s View and the Wallace monument to arrive back in Kelso at 5pm.
